2011 Community Grants Awarded
In 2011, the Forestville Community Fund gave out $9000 in grants for 4 projects to the following:
- $5,000 was allocated towards the Forestville Senior Dining Site/Prime Timers Club to provide low cost weekly lunches for Forestville seniors. The grant was given due to an urgent need after funding was cut from the Council on Aging to the Forestville site as a way to bridge the gap until more steady funding could be developed.
- $2,300 was given to Green Valley Creek Restoration Project for continuation of work being done to preserve and protect fish habitat. It was strongly recommended that the project include working with the local schools to develop educational components moving forward.
- $1,200 was distributed to the JD Kaiwi Beautification Project for downtown Forestville for trash pick up by the Forestville Food Closet Volunteers as a “matching grant” moving forward into 2012. The Community Fund will “match” whatever the Food Closet Volunteers collect raise in 2011 for their support in 2012.
- $500 was invested in research to see what it would take to install a drinking fountain in downtown Forestville.
