2017 Community Grants Awarded
$10,000 was available from contributions from our local quarries and others.
- Youth Park Meeting Room Handicap Ramp: Granted – $2,040
Forestville Youth Park has successfully built a new community room through their fundraising efforts. Their last step is to install a handicap ramp to make it more accessible to all. The Fund will pay for one fifth of that cost. - Skatespot Fun Run Sponsorship: Granted – $500
Local teen has taken on a project to build a skate park in Forestville for kids and adults who love skating. He is in his second year of this endeavor and created a fundraising event to get the word out, and generate money needed to proceed. The Fund will support him in his efforts by underwriting some of his expenses for that event. - Downtown Holiday Tree, New Ornaments, Lights and Lift Rental: Granted in full – $1,460
Even though Forestville’s Christmas tree is donated each year, the ornaments and lights that have been used for years are worn out. A new generation of Forestville’s citizens are stepping up to take over this event. The Fund will cover their expenses to purchase those new lights, ornaments and to pay for the lift to install the tree. - Forestville Fire Department Commercial Stove Replacement: Granted – $3,000
Our local fire department’s stove and oven is in such need of repair, a new one is needed. Since this stove/oven is not only used to feed our firemen, but used to cook and feed the community during emergencies, the Fund will pay for half of the cost. - J.D. Kwai Downtown Beautification Project, Trash Pick Up: Granted – $2,000
The only project to be granted multiple year support, volunteers organized by the local Methodist Church’s Food Closet pick up litter and trash in downtown Forestville in exchange for funding to purchase food for Forestville citizens in need of food. - Forestville Methodist Church Portable Sound System: Granted – $1,000
Community meetings, including our Town Hall gatherings, take place in the Methodist Church hall and the church loans out it’s sound system for the Holiday Tree. At this juncture their sound system is not up to the task. The Fund will help pay for a new one.
