The Sonoma County Design Review Committee will hold a public hearing on December 20th, 2023 to consider the final design of a new commercial building with office and retail space at 6524 Front Street, downtown Forestville.

Permit Sonoma has determined that the project is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under 15303(c) (New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) because the project is construction of a new small commercial building within a census-designated urbanized area, with public utilities available, not involving the use of significant hazardous substances, and not in an environmentally sensitive area. The Permit Resource and Management Department (Permit Sonoma) recommends that the Design Review Committee adopt a resolution finding the project exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and approve the design of the project. The Design Review Committee will hold a public hearing to consider this item on December 20th, 2023 at or after 1:50 PM in the Permit Sonoma Front Conference Room, 2550 Ventura Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.

Written comments may be submitted via email to the Project Planner through December 19th, 2023 at 12:00PM. All comments will be made available to decision-makers prior to or at the hearing until the start of the meeting. Public attendees will have an opportunity, during the hearing, to submit live comments in person only.

Staff recommends that the Design Review Committee adopt a resolution finding the project exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under CEQA Guidelines § 15303(c) (New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) and approve the design of the proposed 4,260 sq. ft. commercial building on a 0.20-acre parcel to serve the permitted use of office and retail operations located on a parcel along the designated Highway 116/Front Street Scenic Corridor. If the Committee requests minor changes, staff recommends the Committee staff to administratively approve the project upon receipt of updated plans.
