Do This Now to Save Landlines

AT&T is asking the CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) to be removed as the “Carrier of Last Resort” for most of California.

This could affect the future of landline and Voice over Internet access and support for our area. This request for your action comes from Safer West County, a volunteer group that looks out for us all.

This land line phone issue is crucial for many who live here. For the sake of all of us…even if you no longer have a landline…please take the time to make your voice heard.
Safer West County says:

Given the challenges of communications in our region and the need for reliable backup systems, removing all landlines leaves rural communities vulnerable in emergencies.

We strongly oppose the AT&T request and ask that each household, whether you are an AT&T customer or not, contact the CPUC to oppose this proposal in writing to:
CPUC Public Advisor’s Office 505 Van Ness Ave. San Francisco, CA 94102
Reference Application 23-03-003 on the envelope and in your letter!

You can also submit your comment on the application at:

The CPUC will also hold two public hearings. One in February and one in March. The details on this application are here at:
