Community Fund Application Process

Application forms are usually made available at several downtown businesses. Complete instructions are given at the beginning of the application period and are well publicized on this Website, in local newspapers, and via the FPA Email list.

If you want to make sure you are notified when the current application period begins, please join our Email List.

Historically, the application period has begun early April and lasted 8-12 weeks. Final decision on which grants will be funded usually has been made in the summer.

Grants are for local projects which enhance “downtown Forestville” and/or serve community values in the Forestville area (i.e. the 95436 zip code).

These grants are to encourage new programs, projects, activities or special needs rather than to supplement regular operating expenses.

Go to: Grants Awarded for examples of grants that have been given in past years.

To assist the FPA in the grant process, a Forestville Community Fund Committee has been established which each year publicizes an application form, evaluates proposals and makes recommendations to the FPA Board on which projects to approve.

Members of this Committee have been selected to represent a range of community interests such as the schools, seniors, the FPA, the Chamber of Commerce, the Youth Park and interested citizens.

In evaluating grant applications, the Committee gives priority to those projects that:

  1. Will impact the most people.
  2. Can “match” dollars from other sources.
  3. Involve collaboration with other groups or projects.
  4. Has a volunteer component to the project.

The “downtown” geographic area is defined as extending along Highway 116 from Forestville School to Mirabel Road, down Mirabel to include the Forestville Youth Park and down Covey Road to include El Molino High School.
